January 2011 Healthy 2011!! Wow...... what a busy last month it has been, however; I enjoyed my December because It gave me a chance to reflect on all my accomplishments and also to plan ahead for a successful coming year. As I look back to 2010, I can proudly say that I took charge of my family's health and that they did not get sick much except for a few colds here and there and I must say that they did not last longer than 2-3 days. The steps we took here at home to remain healthy can easily be taken by you and your family. The secret you may ask? Well, it's simple, get your immune system to be the strongest ever. So, how do you attain a strong immune system and why is it importtant? First of all, it is important to have a strong immune system because it allows you to get over sickness fast or not get sick at all, it will allow you to enjoy high levels of energy throughout the day until it is time to go to bed, you will sleep well through the night and what's better, you will be able to think more clearly and perform better at work or at any specific task you may have to complete during the day. Having a strong immune system is also important for the utilization of nutrients your body requires from food. Having a strong immune system will steer you clear of over eating, giving into cravings; as a matter of fact, you may not crave unhealthy choices of foods like sugar, carbs, salty and fatty foods. So how do you achieve a strong immune system? * Exercise every day! Yes, even if it is for only 30 minutes a day. I was getting up every morning at 5:45 to work out and for some reason sometimes my pillow got the best of me. I totally changed my workout routine and began exercising at night. I haven't missed a session since then. Maybe your workout needs a makeover. * Drink throughout the day. Cheers to water, diluted fruit juice and tea. *Stay away from sugars. * Eat healthy meals, you have to eat 5-6 small meals a day. For a personalized menu, get in touch with me and let's set up a date. * No matter how good you think your diet is, you still lack a percentage of nutrients. Therefore; you still need to supplement with certain vitamins and minerals. Some of the vitamins and minerals that keep the immunne system strong are: vitamin A, E, C, B-complex, iron, zinc and selenium. * Get lots of rest even during the day. You can still rest even when you are not sleeping. Take a few minutes and sit away from your place of work and close your eyes, go for a short walk, stretch, have a cup of tea, go to a local nail salon and get a hand or feet massage only. * Do not spend the whole day indoors, go outside and enjoy at least 15 minutes of natural light. * Learn about essential oils and their medicinal benefits. If you are interested in essential oils, let's get together. * You may need a detox. Newsletter Archive: (click to read) November 2010 |
